Making Pizzas1

I make pizzas on a regular basis now, having discovered how easy it is to make a pizza base. The first time we made our own pizza base we made it partly in the bread machine.
You put a basic white bread mix in the machine and set it to the dough setting. This takes 1 and a half hours. You then remove the dough from the machine, place it on a lightly floured surface and knock it back gently. You then decorate it with whatever ingredients you like, place it in the oven, and cook for 25 minutes or so.

First attempt in bread machine

More recent attempts have seen me make the dough by hand instead of doing it in the bread machine. This involves kneading it by hand for 10 minutes or so then leaving it in a warm place to rise for about an hour.I then knock it back, before separating it into 2 pieces. This is then rolled out, basically to what ever thickness you prefer(You probably won't get a perfect round shape but that is not important. In fact i think it just enhances the pleasure. If you serve it up to friends. They will know that it is homemade).Add the toppings of your choice, then cook for 25 minutes or so.

PIZZA RECIPE

Ingredients

For the dough

280ml water.
30ml virgin olive oil.
450g white bread flour.
11/2tsp salt.
1/2 tsp granulated sugar.
1 tsp easy bake yeast.

For the topping

Tomato paste.
Mozzarella Cheese.

These are the basic base toppings after that you can add what ingredients you prefer.
For the dough you can substitute any flour.I used up some Pasta flour i had in the cupboard recently.
Once you make your pizza from scratch you will probably never go back to shop bought pizzas.
