Marmite and Cheese Bread

I had a conversation with a rep at my place of work about my baking. This lead to her telling me about her local bakers. She said that they make a  loaf that has marmite swirled through it.This intrigued me as i wondered how you get the marmite to go in swirls.I headed online and in the process of my research i found a recipe for a Marmite and Cheese bread.Actually i only found half a recipe. The woman who posted the recipe up could only remember the second part of the recipe.
I just decided to use an ordinary recipe i had for a plain white loaf then used her instructions after that.

                                                           Ingredients

500g white flour.
1 1/2 tsp of salt.
1 tsp granulated sugar.
15g soft butter.
7g yeast.
300ml lukewarm water.
4oz grated mature cheddar.
1 tsp marmite.

                                                      Recipe

1.Add the white flour, salt, sugar and yeast to a mixing bowl and stir in.
2.Add the butter and mix in till it resembles fine breadcrumbs.
3.Make a well in the centre of the bowl and slowly add the water, mixing in the mixture as you do.
4.Form into a ball then remove from the bowl.
5.Place on a lightly floured surface and knead for about ten minutes.
6.Place back in the bowl and cover.Leave to rise in a warm place for about an hour or till double in size.
7.Grease a 2lb bread tin.
8..Remove the dough from the bowl and split into three.
9.Divide the first third into small balls and line them on the base of the bread tin.
10.Brush on some marmite with a pastry brush.
11.Sprinkle with some cheese.
12.Repeat steps 9-11.
13.Top off with the rest of the dough.
14.Cover and leave to prove in a warm place for 40-50 minutes.
15.Bake at 200 degrees c for 40 minutes or so.
16.Take the loaf out and if it sounds hollow when tapped it is done.
17.If not,bake for a further 5 minutes.

I have tried this loaf twice now and both times i have not had enough dough to cover the top of the loaf.To be perfectly honest though it probably does not matter if you do not cover the loaf.It usually looks quite okay without a topping. It certainly tastes fine.Even Mrs Monday Baker, who doesn't like marmite said,
"I hate to admit it but it tastes lovely".
