The Great British Bake Off Challenge

I recently brought 'The Great British Book of Baking' a recipe book to accompany the first series of 'The Great British Bake Off'.I didn't see the first series but the recipes inside looked really good.It would appear that they went around the regions on each episode so everything that the bakers had to make was truly British.
When i had had a good look through it i thought that thought that they all appeared to be dishes that i would enjoy.Because of this i decided that i would set myself a challenge. This would be to make all the recipes in the book.I had also decided that i would work through the book fom front to back, making them in order.
On closer inspection this presented 2 problems-

1.The recipes were all arranged in order of types,eg,
All biscuits and tea time treats followed by all bread, followed by tarts and flans etc.
This i decided was not very practical or particularly interesting.

2.The first recipe was Stem Gingernuts.I am not a lover of ginger so making something i would probably not eat was not a good recipe to start my challenge with.

I have decided therefore to start with the fairy cake recipe and alternate what recipes i do.I will still attempt to do all 120 recipes, just in no particular order.
Maybe for my next recipe i will put up some choices and get you the readers of my blog to vote for the recipe you would like me to attempt next.
